What Our Clients Say
Wolverhampton City Council
DEGW has been leading the design philosophy, approach and consultation of Wolverhampton City Council Building Schools for the Future Programme since January 2008.
DEGW’s approach has been to drive design around a framework of learning and teaching aspirations, including the aspirational learners experience, future curriculum and pedagogical models. Activity and pedagogical led design has been a key feature of this approach, and the outcomes of some of the research are outlined in this film.
DEGW has been recognised nationally in the UK as delivering an innovative method of linking the school’s vision, and its aspirations for learning and teaching, with the spatial implications of these goals.
The process has involved exploring:
- The school’s vision
- Their strategies for change
- The aspirational learners experience
- The aspirational delivery of learning and teaching, curriculum and pedagogy
- The role of the school in the community
- The core activity model for the school
Based on the understanding of what these schools are trying to achieve, the architectural and spatial implications of this can be built into a brief for the architectural design teams.
DEGW will coordinate the competitive design process of Wolverhamptons Building Schools for the Future Programme, working with all consortiums on the development of schemes that deliver the councils aspirations for learning and teaching both now and in the future.
